A Restaurant of Monumental Proportions

In NYC there is a new restaurant opening nearly everyday.  The competition is fierce and even some of the tried and true need to come up with fresh ideas to stay in the game.  And, sometimes, a restaurant will come quietly but its food rings loudly.  This is Monument Lane.  Its name comes from a street in the area which once held a monument for General James Wolfe in the Battle of Quebec.  The chef, Brian Murphy, makes New American cuisine that hints at some traditional favorites.  Some of the dishes that are calling my name are the Whole Wheat Pretzels with Gouda dip, Wild Boar Saucisse Sec , Fava Bean and Spring Onion Toast, and Sherry-Glazed Squab.  The rustic setting makes it unfussy.  The food makes it heaven.
