Goat Town

Nick Morgenstern (from Brooklyn's The General Greene) and Joel Hough (Cookshop) have opened Goat Town in the East Village.  Besides the local American cuisine (we'll get to that) the decor is what caught my eye at this new restaurant.  What an inventive idea to use subway tile on the banquettes.  It still manages to look cozy.

The open kitchen will turn out dishes such as grilled squid with black olives and kumquats, roasted vermont lamb with root vegetables and salsa verde, and an assortment of oysters.  The duo will do their own butchering and curing as well as making their own ice cream.

They are open for Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner.   And they have special Happy Hour and Bar menus.

It's at 511 East 5th Street between Ave. A & B
212-687-3641

The full menu is featured on menupages.com
